What is Food Poisoning?
Food Poisoning is a virus which occurs when you eat some unhealthy food. Because unhealthy food contains bacteria, viruses, and some harmful germs and these viruses are the reason which causes food poisoning. It is also known as food-borne illness. It makes you feel very uncomfortable and low sometimes like a feeling of vomiting. This virus is commonly seen in the United States. Thousands of people are caught by food poisoning every year. Everyone who traps in this problem is later resolved on their own, but during this time they are not able to do anything because it causes illness, vomiting or diarrhoea or it may cause a problem in their organs such as kidneys, brain or their muscles.
Symptoms of Food Poisoning:
Whenever you eat unhealthy food, it may cause food poisoning. It may go hours, days to get back to your normal day. But the primary symptoms may depend on what type of unhealthy food you eat. And the common symptoms which are typically found are:
- Headaches
- Weakness
- Appetite loss
- Diarrhea
- Nausea
- Fever
- Vomiting
- Pain in stomach
So, these are basic symptoms which cause food poisoning. It may happen to the group of people or the individual just due to the toxic food. You should contact or meet your doctor if you feel any one of the symptoms listed above.
Causes of Food Poisoning
Some of the common causes of food poisoning are:
- Bacteria
It is one of the main reasons which causes food poisoning. Bacteria like listeria, salmonella in the food are the biggest problem for the occurrence of this virus. Food which goes out of date or food which is not placed at the clean place is the reason for its toxicity. Many people trapped in this virus get hospitalized.
- Viruses
Viruses like Sapo virus, rotavirus, and astrovirus attacked many people and became the major cause of food poisoning. The virus is transmitted to the body through the food.
Who is having a risk of getting food poisoning?
People who are having a liver, kidney problem or the children and seniors or the pregnant ladies are at greater risks of food poisoning. Once in a lifetime, everyone comes under this issue. And some people have a more risk due to their weak immune system.
Treatment for food poisoning
In most of the cases, food poisoning resolves on their own. Many people feel better after some days by having some serious precautions. They need to avoid spicy junk food or heavy food and drink plenty of water at that time. They need to have precautions until the symptoms like vomiting and fever stop.
Still, if it does not resolve after some days, then you need to have an appointment with your doctor. You may check yourself if:
- Vomiting does not stop even after 2-3 days.
- You continuously have a fever up to 101-degree F.
- See blood in your stool.
- Sometimes you Feel trouble while breathing.
Cures of food poisoning
This problem can usually be treated at home by taking a rest or by taking a proper diet. And it will take only 4-5 days to get back normal. Under this situation, you need to have good healthy food and need to drink plenty of water or coconut water. But avoid caffeine because it may affect adversely to your digestive system. And some of the people who do not feel fit after these precautions need to get hospitalised.
What will be the diet for the people with food poisoning?
Under this condition, you need to avoid some heavy food, because that does not get digest easily. Diet must include:
- Sport drinks
- Simple toast
- Bananas
- Gelatin
- Boiled Vegetables
- Diluted Fruit Juices
How can food poisoning be prevented?
You need to avoid heavy food, junk food, and the dairy products. And all other products which are not clean and you think is unsafe for you. Some of the products like:
- Food which is not placed in the refrigerator.
- Avoid heavy things like cheese, and chicken in these days.
- Always check for the expiry date for the packaged food.
- Always wash your hand before cooking and before eat.
- Wash fruits and vegetables properly.
- Don’t eat mushrooms and cheese during food poisoning.
